Neowin.net reveals that among some of Microsoft’s upcoming plans for the Surface line of are a new battery powered cover and a new dock for the Pro Line series. Of course there have also been rumours of a surface Mini and most significant is the apparent determination to keep the RT alive although no-one seems to want it. Much cheaper Android options with as much capability are available in a wide variety of brands and sizes.
Introduced along with general availability of Windows 8 bit the RT has not sold well, likely because it was viewed as overpriced even with a price slash of $150 down to $349.
The RT is characterized as simply a tablet, the Pro leans more toward a PC and certainly those who have and use the Pro seem generally to be very happy with it but are not in a hurry to give up on their desktop computers if they still have them.
Microsoft will host an event on Sept 23 during which new Surface products are expected to be show cased.
